ViMagic does two things well: it turns a link into words, and it saves the file behind that link.

Why it exists

Anyone who works with recordings loses hours to the same task — playing something back, pausing, typing, rewinding. A lecture, an interview, a client call, a reel you want captions for. The work is mechanical, and machines are now good enough to do it. ViMagic exists so you can spend that time on the part that actually needs you.

How it works

Paste a public link. We read the title, length and thumbnail first, so you can confirm it is the right media before spending any of your allowance. Then speech recognition runs and you get the text back with a timestamp on every line.

Recognition runs on our own servers. Your media is not handed to an outside transcription company, and the audio pulled for a job is deleted as soon as the transcript is written.

What you get

• A transcript with timestamps you can search and copy
• Exports as SRT and VTT for subtitles, or plain text and JSON
• Translation into English from about ninety languages
• The original video or audio, from 360p up to 4K

Languages

Language is detected automatically. Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi and Urdu all work, alongside English and most major world languages.

Creators writing captions. Students turning lectures into notes. Journalists working through interview tape. Teams making meeting recordings searchable. Researchers coding qualitative interviews.

Being straight about limits

No transcription is perfect, ours included. Clean single-speaker audio comes back around 90–95% right. Heavy background noise, thick accents or several people talking at once will pull that down. Always read through anything you are going to publish or rely on.

Some links cannot be opened at all: private videos, paywalled content, and anything that needs a sign-in. Live streams work only once they have ended.
